Remember that movie series, "Home Alone"?  I can't say that I know exactly how that kid felt; however I got a pretty good idea this past Friday!

My ENTIRE team was out of the studio on Friday and I felt like a big fish in a little pond full of hungry sharks!  I can't say it was the toughest thing that I have ever done; or that it even ranks that high on the top ten overall "difficulty scale".  However, it was VERY unpleasant and VERY difficult still!

The shining moment was the interview with the Wisteria Restaurant; which is the Business of the Week on www.runsamrun.com; and will be featured until next Monday.  Kirbie gave them a HUGE endorsement and they were highly anticipated guests.  I must admit that I am glad that I had the opportunity to do this interview; as the staff and management already almost seem like family.  Their hospitality and service-minded focus transcends far beyond just their restaurant.  I think you will thoroughly enjoy that segment.

As far as the rest goes...  I really had no one to talk to.  Don't beat me up to much w/ the show's criticisms; I did my best!

This show had all of the potential to be truly Amazing!  We were going to tie in the concept of the Mandrake Mechanism and the FED's control of the economy by expansion/contraction of the money supply with Wal-mart's aspirations to obtain a bank.  WOW, right?

Unfortunately the whole world collapsed about 1/2 hour before the show started and we didn't arrive at the studio until 12:00 PM.  It was pretty amazing in itself that we arrived at ALL!

Anyway, I won't talk about much (there isn't much to talk about).  We'll pick up our topic next week.

On this show we decided to give you an inside look at how knowledgeable our producer, Lee Kantor, really is.  I am always giving him huge "props"; however, it is not "hype".  We have a lot of fun on the show, but many things we say in jest we aren't joking about.  Lee being the "super producer" is one of those things.

It is not his ability to produce radio shows like "Run, Sam. Run!" or Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy, or Atlanta Business Radio that makes him super.  It is his ability to PRODUCE what he needs using his own talents, skills, motivation and creativity that is super!

In this show we also touch on the Wall Street Journal Article that was posted on  MoneyCentral this past week, "The End of the Wal-Mart Era".  (Just enough to entice our listeners to read it)  I HIGHLY advocate all of our small business listeners to take the time out to assimilate and digest the information in this article.

For our Business of the Week segment, Mrs. Kirbie Speights actually gave us a call on behalf of Exquisite Hair Salon and Day Spa of Martinez, GA (Augusta Metro-Area).  I think her radio voice was quite lovely and look forward to her calling in the future.  We both have actually patronized this business ourselves while in Augusta and endorse their services heavily.  If you want a viable alternative to the salon "chains" that you find in the shopping malls (with superior service), then Exquisite is where you want to go!

Dre's marketing tips tied in closely with the theme of the entire show and Andgie's shopping tips talked about...well...SHOPPING! (vice fashion).

It was a little more serious than most shows; but that probably was due to the fact that Maria and I got into a car accident the day prior.  (Which is why she missed the show)  Our energy wasn't quite as jovial, but all in all it was still a good show and produced a lot of great information.  (Lee is the best!)

We apologize we're 2 days late, but we had an issue with the Artist of the Week's file format.  Super-producer and engineer extraordinaire, Lee, got it all figured out though and this show is now podcasted for your listening pleasure!  He not only does it for us, but for three other shows as well!  Don't forget to catch him on my SECOND favorite radio show, www.drfitnessandthefatguy.com.

I have to say that we set a personal record by sticking to the show notes (although Andgie still has a tough time reading them) and moving in and out of each segment on time.  In fact, we got done w/ some time to spare!  I used that time by finding out where our team liked to shop; and failed to get a single locally owned business out of the bunch!  The peanut gallery (Maria) was the only one in the studio who frequented a locally owned business!  We're going to have to do something about that!

We introduced a new segment (Business of the Week).  This segment is brought to you by Mrs. Kirbie Speights, our new field correspondent, and her first BOW is a real winner!  I interviewed Mr. Praveen Madan.  He is the new owner of "The Booksmith"; a locally owned bookstore in San Francisco, Ca.  You can find them at www.booksmith.com.  I thoroughly enjoyed the interview and I think that you will too.  If you are in the area I think you should DEFINITELY stop by as Mrs. Speights HIGHLY reccomends it and the store's reputation preceeds it.  The knowledge and experience that Mr. Madan brings to the table is bound to bring an improvement to an already superior provider of quality and service.  Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble...  Watch out!

Andgie asked a very good question that stimulated the topic of the week and actually got me talking about the predatory lending crisis our country is in the wake of right now.  The dialogue left some points I intended to make in regards to Wal-marts predatory business practices untouched, but it leaves room for future debate.

In the midst of being called a racist earlier this week and also having the show criticized as being an "info-mercial", I decided to shake things up a little.  Okay...  A LOT!

Inspired by the very controversial Neil Boortz, I decided to take a different approach and speak on some things that may (or may not) offend some people.  I touched on a variety of subjects speaking from a specific point of view.  As an added touch I also decided to be the judge and the jury on who's opinion was correct (just to make a point).  I think that our producer Lee caught on very quickly to my point as some of his comments were indicative of the very reaction that I think any intelligent, free-thinking person would have.  To get the point yourself, you are just going to have to listen to the broadcast!

The main point of this particular show is not only to put some controversial issues on the show because "we can", but to show that even amongst our team, who work on the same show, we have vastly different views on a variety of subjects.  However, at the end of the day we are bonded by a common goal and we can agree to disagree and move on.  None of our opinions lead to a violation of anyone else's civil liberties; and if the show's sole intention was to "sell something" then I would be very careful not to offend anyone who might be a prospective "client".  The point of the show is to get people thinking and dialoguing about what (in my opinion) is a very serious issue (regarding the effects of transnational corporations on our local and national economy).

As a side note: I am not always right (as Andgie suggested in the show).  What I AM is always well informed on the facts that support my points of view and unafraid to be challenged on my points of view.  I am OPINIONATED and I have that right to be.  Don't be offended because my arguments are based on reasoning and supported by facts, and yours are based on weightless emotional rhetoric.

We do the show because there is a viable and practical solution to the problems that we are bringing forth; however, we first must get the people to recognize the fact that there ARE some very serious problems in the marketplace and our overall economy; and the bottom-line is that those problems are perpetuated by the way we spend (and where we spend).

Every now and then we will discuss the solution, but we will focus more heavily on the problem.  Hopefully we will wake a few people up who will then begin to seek out a viable solution.

With that being said, be prepared to sit through some entertaining debates on the following subjects:

I'm sorry that I am late with posting this BLOG; however we ran into some "technical issues" at the office in Atlanta and I am having to do this post from my home in Thomaston, GA.  I'll be headed out to the office today and hopefully tying up any loose ends.

I STILL have not heard the show for myself, but it felt positive as we were doing it.  I still have to find out how to get my Co-host to read, and we could not get the Artist of the Week ripped from the CD (my deepest apologies Ra Search); however other than that I feel pretty good about it.

If my memory serves me correctly, the show went a little something like this:

I decided to focus on a topic of the week that my producer and I discussed during our first meeting about doing the show (Big Radio vs. Internet Radio).  It seems that many of the political tactics used by Wal-Mart are mirrored by Big Radio in their quest to stomp out the competition being brought from the emergence of internet radio.  We did this topic in two parts and I think you all will appreciate the information that we share this week.

As in MOST cases, my producer, Lee and I are in complete agreeance on the problems in our country, but seemingly diametrically opposed in what the solutions to those problems are.  I think this makes for a great show; as you have two highly intellectual and active people in the community sharing equally lucid points of views.  It is bound to get you thinking outside of the box.  It definitely got ME thinking!

Andgie's Shopping Tips of the Week were...debatable!  ...and Dre's Marketing Tips were typical to what I am used to seeing each day in the work environment.  Perhaps this was redemption from his first Tips of the Week where he stumbled around the subject of Project Management.

Of course he gave out just a little misinformation about the WHIG party, and we kept referring to them being "on the ballot" when we meant being an "active" party.  I still DO believe that I read somewhere about a new WHIG party being active, but I am going to have to find out for sure.  In any event, that segment was comical and bound to at least get you smiling.

The ladies looked LOVELY, and next week we think we will start video taping the show, so you will see exactly what I mean once those videos are released to the public!

Where did the time go?

This one kind of got away from us, folks!  Our second show started out great, but somehow I got stuck on the example of "bottled water" for every question thrown at me.  (I must have been thirsty!).  The first segment lasted an eternity!

Of course this show is full of bloopers as well; however, we're getting better (slightly).  I still never plugged the Power In Numbers™ website, and didn't get a chance to mention our Sponsorship opportunities, so I am in trouble w/ our executive producer.  I'll have to do something very special for her this weekend!  ...But back to the show.

One day we'll have to go back to outline the phenomena of the expansion of the money supply.  It seems that several of the questions that our producer, Lee, put forth definitely required a higher level of knowledge of economics than we were prepared to deliver on this episode of the show.  I'll be sure to have better examples at that time.  :-)  (Bottled Water???  What was I thinking?)

The show notes weren't followed very well, but we did discuss a wide range of information regarding on the pricing strategies and practices of Wal-Mart® and other major retailers.  Every now and then you get some good information (although my examples (bottled water) tended to be drawn out and boring).  So if you didn't know that there are only seven (7) different types of human beings, and that Wal-mart® is a major factor in the impotence problem in the United States, then there is something in this segment worth listening to!

The second segment featured our special guest, Mr. Donald McIntyre, who stepped in for Mr. Joe Beasley at the last moment.  I have worked with Mr. McIntyre as a civil rights activists in several communities in Georgia and he is the President of the newly established chapter of the SCLC (Southern Christian Leadership Conference).  He is also an active member of the Nuwaubian Nation.  We did what is bound to be a very controversial segment based on the Nuwaubians and the very high profile legal case involving the Rev. Dr. Malachi Z. York.  I personally would like to view the transcripts of this particular case and seek the truth for myself.  I implore all of the listeners to do the same.  Let's get to the bottom of this injustice that has a man subject to an illegal sentence of 135 years in a maximum security prison in the midst of sealed transcripts, a closed courtroom, DNA evidence conflicting with the conviction, witness recantments, documented testimony of an FBI conspiracy and the Justice Department directly lying to ME in response to a routine and unbiased inquiry.

You don't want to miss this one! (Especially the second segment).  I would like to talk about the Jena 6 in an upcoming episode as well.  If anyone knows how to get in contact with someone close to that case or family/friends of the defendants; please send them this link!

Next week we are bound to be back on focus; but this weeks show should still be an enjoyable experience.

Welcome, Listeners! 

Our Flagship broadcast of the radio show "Run, Sam. Run!" was a lot of fun, and ended up being an opportunity to "work the kinks out" and get comfortable with being "on the air".

We began by first introducing the cast to the listeners.  I began with my very lovely co-host, Ms. Andgie Remy.  (Yes, she spells her name with a "d" and her last name REALLY is Remy).  I MUST admit that she looked absolutely intoxicating (pun intended).  Next I introduced "Dre" (LeAndre Simmons) who we later found out should take his own advice on small/medium size businesses needing to learn and implement a "Project Management" methodology across the entire spectrum of operations, including Sales and Marketing. It seems that his nerves had him also forget the name of his own company "Captin Courier™".  Lastly, but not at all least, I introduced our show's producer and facilitator of Power In Numbers™ studios, Mr. Lee Kantor.  You all may know him as "the Fat Guy" from the very successful "Dr. Fitness and the Fat Guy" weekly radio show that takes place every Thursday evening from 7:30 to 8:30.

Andgie wasn't the only angel in the building, however.  Power In Numbers™ CEO, Mrs. Maria Flores sat in on the set; although she was too shy to "mike up" and join us formally on the show.  She is HOT! ...and not just because she is my wife!  It is a treat to be on the inside of the studio just for the scenary; even if we do "stink up the airwaves" with our commentary.  (...and she IS hot! Ask anybody!)

The first segment was full of nervous tension and "bloopers".  I myself had a couple of classics like using the word "collaborate" when I meant "consolidate" and making the statement that "...within ten years of their husbands death, a widows financial status will significantly INCLINE (vice decline)".  In spite of those things we pushed on and worked through Andgie's first "Topic of the Week"; which was "Who/What is Power In Numbers™ and What Is Its Connection With Run, Sam. Run!"  I started out with a very informative (and exceedingly boring) explanation, followed by a very wordy input by Dre.  Although this was a lot of fun, neither of us will be quitting our day jobs to become radio personalities!

Andgie was...well...she was cute!  She also was exceedingly funny.  The combination of her sharp wit and almost out of place airheadedness (for someone so intelligent) lightened up the atmosphere for the second half of the show.  She gave her Weekly Shopping Tips to all of the sexy, broke female listeners following a very comical segment of Dre's Marketing Tips of the Week.

The combination of Mrs. Flores backseat driving and Lee's experience saved the day and made for an absolutely fantastic second half of the show.  We discussed the book that coincides with the show, some interesting facts about some of Wal-marts predatory practices and how both of these topics tied into what we are attempting to do with the show.  You do NOT want to miss this segment!  It was powerful and intriguing, and epitomizes what this show is supposed to be about!

Andgie read a quote used in the book Run, Sam. Run! by Edward Everett Hale that sums up the entire gambit of our mission: "I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.  What I can do, I should do. And what I should do, by the grace of God, I will do."

I hope that you enjoy listening to the show and making fun of us as much as we had making the show (and making fun of ourselves).
